15 February: Galileo Galilei is born in Pisa, and a bowl of Garmugia

Galileo was born in Pisa on 15 February 1564 and went on to point a telescope at the sky. Garmugia, a spring soup from Lucca just up the road from Pisa, is full of little green spheres of its own: peas and broad beans.
