8 November: Röntgen discovers X-rays, and a bowl of Consommé
On 8 November 1895 Wilhelm Röntgen noticed a strange glow in his darkened Würzburg lab and discovered X-rays, the rays that let us see through things. The perfect bowl for the day is the one you can see straight through: consommé, a stock clarified until it is completely transparent.
